    3. Fry in cooking oil
    4. Serve while hot with steamed rice
    5. Enjoy!! :)

Manila Ocean Park - Family Day :)

It has been a very busy month for me that I was not able to share this experience that happen a month ago.
Together with my family and friends, we visited Manila Ocean Park.
This is my first time to be in that place. I am so excited that my son, Gareth, will be able to see how the fishes swim no mater how big or small they are.
Manila Ocean Park is the first marine-themed park in the Philippines. It houses exciting, enticing and enriching marine life attractions that are truly at par with Asia's best. It somehow teaches us about marine life and the importance of conserving the environment.

We avail a promo which is includes:
    Marine Life Shows
    Fish Spa
    Musical Fountain Show

Below are the picture taken using my not so good cellphone camera but I hope you'll appreciate and enjoy it.

This photos are taken from the Oceanarium. There a a lot of fishes but this one really amaze me because they bury themselves in the sand. I forgot what they are called :)

Picture taking with the Sharks Part 1
Gareth's really hungry and can't wait to have his milk. So i grab the opportunity to take this picture with the sharks while feeding him and he's behave.. :)

Picture taking with the Sharks Part 2

Its a really tiring day. So we just lay Gareth with the sharks.. Looks like he's really enjoying it. :)

Stingrays... There's a lot of it. And its not just a stingray, its a very big stingray!!

Well, its really a good place to go. i just wasn't able to post other pictures from the other shows.
I really like the Jellies, though they're not that much, I like them because they glow in the dark and the room was indeed very dark.

Marine Life Show - this amaze me especially when the sea lions started their shows and wow, unbelievable, they really do a lot of tricks!

Musical fountain Show - amazing lights and fountain.. very colourful!

I'll be uploading some of our pictures when I have time..(well, hope I will)

    Digiperm Care Guide

Maintaining your digiperm is not really that hard.
You just have to follow this simple steps that was told me by Beauty Brick.
    1. Wash your hair as usual. I always shampoo my hair because it  gets oily when the day ends.
I use Herbal Essence Hydralicious Reconditioning Shampoo everyday. This thick shampoo make my hair really luscious and shiny.
    My Shampoo
     2. Always use conditioner or hair treatments to eliminate tangles on your hair. On a day to day basis, a good conditioner will do. I use Herbal Essence Hydralicious Reconditioning Conditioner everyday. This thick conditioner leaves my hair luscious and shiny too and absolutely no tangles.
    My Conditioner
     3. After washing and conditioning, comb your hair using your fingertips only. Towel dry it by just scrunching it. Never rub your hair with a towel as this makes your hair really frizzy.
    4. When your hair is at 50% dry, curl it using your fingers in the same direction as your curl. Leave it as is and wait until it is completely dry.
    5. Spread your hair, remove it from the bundles that you made when curling it.
    6. Apply hair product. There are 2 products that is ideal to use. If you use mousse, apply it when hair is damp, almost 50% dry and never touch your hair the whole day. If you use wax, apply it when hair is dry, 90% dry will do and scrunch your hair during application. The good thing about wax is that you can touch and scrunch your hair as long as you want, as in any time of the day. Just remember, always spread your hair and remove from bundles before applying any product on it. This is because if you apply product while your hair is bundled, it will just be messy and not to good (but i haven't tried doing this).
This the the product that I applied on my hair and this really works for me. This doesn't mean that this will work for you :). Believe me, i have tried a lot  but this one's great for me and this is really cheap.

Digital Perm at Beauty Brick Salon with Mr. Shin

You could have been  wondering why I always blog about Digiperm or digital perming.
Well, it's just because I'm a bit addicted to curly hair. :)
From my previous post, it's about my friend's experience that I'm a bit envious that time that I can't have my hair permed. But on Nov. 5, 2011, my dream hair just came true.

The process was just the same as what I posted.
Let me share you my digital perm experience at beauty brick salon with Mr. Shin.
These are the before and after pictures
    Before the digiperm

    After the digiperm :)

What's inside my "TOOL CASE" :)

I just want to share what' inside my survival kit.
Well every girl usually carry these gadgets wherever they go and just can't live without them.
They're girls best friend aside from diamonds :)
For me, these are the things that I really need and just can't do without.

Lip balm - I use Lipice. I love it when it changes its color when I applied it. Bought it at Watson's
Eye Liner - I use proof 10 auto pencil. Bought it at Etude. I like it because its waterproof and I don't need to  sharpen it. I apply it on my eye lids. :)
Brow Liner - Well I can say I can't leave house without this. I have a very thin and not so defined eyebrow. I just bought this in a flea market. As far as I can remember, this just cost around 15php .. :)
Face powder - from Maybelline. Rarely use this cause I just always don't put some powder on my face. But when I do, this is my personal choice.
Toothbrush and Toothpaste - Well this is a must. A fresh breath never fail to give an impression that your always fresh hehehehe..
Blush-On - I choose a mineral make up from Avon. I think this is good for the skin. I just use this after using a face powder. It's great that the applicator and the powder is already together and ready to use.
Hair Shine - I've been using this for years and it's really great. This gives my hair an instant shine and smoothness.
What's missing??? A comb! I don't have it since my hair is permed and I'm prohibited from combing it.

Well this is just all I got.
    What's yours? :)

Digiperm Experience with Mr. Shin - Not Mine

I had been planing to have my hair permed again. Unfortunately, this can't be possible since I need to prepare and treat my hair to make it stronger and healthier.

Last Saturday, as usual I got my weekly session with Dermaestetique for my lipo session with Kaye.
After the lipo session, I accompanied her to Beautybrick in Makati.

We had been seeing a lot of good feedback from different blogs regarding the service and results and we're pretty convinced that this is a really nice salon to go.

Upon arriving at the salon, we were impressed by the salon's design, its cute :)

Wall painting was very nice! We were surprised that Mr. Shin actually painted it. :)

So much for the salon's interior, here's the photos taken during the whole process

     1. The usual process of hair cleaning, shampooing. :)

     2. Hair assessment of Mr. Shin. He'll check the most appropriate curl type for you as well as the treatments needed to address hair damage.

     3. Application of 1st of medicine. This actually took I guess around 15 minutes.
     4. Hair washing and preparation for the curling process
    5. Setting of curls.
     6. Going to the digiperm machine.

     7. Removal of perm rods and application of 2nd set of medicine.
     8. Hair drying after the washing from the 2nd medicine set
    The final output!!

Beautybrick is located at Dona Consolacion Bldg. Jupiter Street, Makati.
Please call them for reservations. :)

I really like it from the very first time that we met.. hehehe..
I can hear her calling my name ang pleasing me to buy her.. hehehehe.
But then I left her trying to find another pair which might be more appropriate for me...

But at the end of the day, were still meant to be.

    Time to shift my career??

On my last post, I describe shortly my job and what I do.. But on this article, I'll discuss what else can I do.
Is this a call for a career shift..?
Last Saturday, I visited my friend K in her office.
She was very envious of my curly hair.. hahahaha.. :)
She had a curly hair before and I really liked it, she's one of the reasons why I decided to curl my hair..
Them some troubles happen to her hair during her last perm and made her decide to just cut her hair and straight it everyday.. :(
She told me that she just missed the old days when she had a long curly hair..
Luckily I just brought my curling iron and decided to restyle her short, layered hair.

    Tanan!! the final product!!

If I only knew that this will happen, I should have taken her a picture before our beautification session.. hahahaha..

    Anyway, what can you say??

    Once in My Lifetime Experience

Last 2010, I was involved in a very very stressful and challenging project. To give an idea on what my job is, I an heavily involved in Audits (a systematic, independent and documented process for obtaining audit evidences to determine to which and audit criteria is fulfilled - ISO). To make it simpler, this is conducted to check if the organization is following its defined procedure (internal audits) and/or if the organization is following the international standard such as ISO(external). Hope I described it simpler. Though there are several types and levels of audit but I will not dwell on that.

Since, this is the kind of job that I have, I was tasked to prepare our company for our country quality award. According on the trainings and orientations that I have attended, this was similar to the US Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Awards also similar to other countries national quality award.. Hence country name+Quality Award as the formula.

To make it short, we joined the Philippine Quality Award. Really difficult and challenging preparation. Preparations are stressful since not only the documentation needs to be prepared, but also the awareness of the employees and preparedness of every department.

I almost thought of just giving up because of stress. But in the end, it was very fulfilling moment.
We are then invited to Malacanan Palace to get our award from of course the President of the Philippines.
(Wish I was a VP or CEO to personally shake hands with him.. hehehe)

As a reward of our hard work, we then had a photo shoot with the President of the Philippines.
    Group Picture with President Aquino

    Me, holding the award

    Our Team
Truly, hard work and perseverance paid off beautifully. Thanks to those who trust us that we can make it.

Baby Care Tips - Sudden Infant Death Symdrome (SIDS)

I have read this article from some other website and again encountered this one again from Smart Parenting.
Upon reading this, I realized that I almost did all of the prevention tips stated here.

Anyway, I recommend to you guys to read this article as this may be helpful especially for new parents.

SIDS is the unexpected, sudden death of a child under age 1 in which an autopsy does not show an explainable cause of death. There are no symptoms, and as the name implies, it occurs suddenly. Even up to the present time, the cause of SIDS is still not identified. There are many theories about it, but the general idea is that there is no single factor that contributes to SIDS.

This phenomenon usually occurs between the ages of 1 month to 1 year old, with the highest incidence within the 2-4 months age group.

While the cause is unknown, there have been some risk factors identified with SIDS:
    •    smoking, drinking, or drug use during pregnancy
    •    poor prenatal care
    •    prematurity or low birth-weight
    •    mothers younger than 20
    •    tobacco smoke exposure following birth
    •    overheating from excessive sleepwear and bedding
    •    stomach sleeping

The American Academy of Pediatrics has reviewed much of the research regarding SIDS and has come up with the following guidelines for parents, caregivers and medical practitioners that may help in the prevention of this syndrome:

“Back to sleep.” Always put a baby to sleep on his back. (This includes naps.) DO NOT put a baby to sleep on its stomach. Side sleeping is unstable and should also be avoided. Allowing the baby to roll around on its tummy while awake can prevent a flat spot (due to sleeping in one position) from forming on the back of the head

This is how my baby sleep. He rarely sleep with his back but he is more comfortable in this position
MOMMY G's comment: based on my experience, during the  first 3 mos of my baby, he did sleep with his back. Whenever I feel like he needs to sleep in his side, I put on a pillow on his back. I do this with caution and always check him. I allow him to sleep with his back if the weather is hot, so his back will not sweat that may cause respiratory problems like cough. On my observation, my baby started sleeping on his stomach when he started to crawl. maybe because he can support his body well at this period. until now, he is 1 year and 2 mos old, he sleeps in any position he is comfortable. But he prepared sleeping with his stomach and his butt pointed out. :)

Let babies sleep in the same room (NOT the same bed) as parents. If possible, baby’s cribs should be placed in the parents' bedroom to allow for night-time feeding. By allowing baby to sleep in the same room, parents could easily hear if there is anything wrong with the baby. Allowing baby to sleep in the crib, instead of the parents’ bed prevents accidental smothering by a hand, an arm, or even a breast.

MOMMY G's comment: my baby just slept on his crib alone during the first week of his life. until now, he sleeps with us and he feels comfortable about it. When he's just until around 6 months and I'm breastfeeding, I feel that this is very convenient every night that I don't have to get up of bed and breastfeed him because he's with me and i can easily feed him with me and end both of us asleep. This is also an additional bonding time with us. I guess, what's important here is that, the parents should be very much aware that they are sleeping with their baby so that they can control their movements when they are asleep. But there are people who absolutely have no idea on how they sleep so parents, be very cautious before considering sleeping with your baby.

Only put babies to sleep in a crib. NEVER allow the baby to sleep in bed with other children or adults, and do NOT put them to sleep on surfaces other than cribs, like a sofa. Other children or even adults may accidentally cover baby’s mouth and nose. Soft surfaces may accidentally bury baby’s face into the cushion. The soft surface could create an enclosure around baby’s nose and mouth, which could lead to suffocation. Examples of these include soft mattresses or beddings, stuffed toys, or a pillow near the face

MOMMY G's comment: I always do this. Ensure that my baby is free from any accidental suffocation.

Avoid soft bedding materials. Babies should be placed on a firm, tight-fitting crib mattress with no comforter to avoid the soft sheet fluffing up. Use a light sheet to cover the baby. Do not use pillows, comforters, or quilts.

MOMMY G's comment: Done as always. Ensure that my baby is free from any accidental suffocation.

Do not use breathing monitors or products marketed as ways to reduce SIDS risk. In the past, home breathing monitors were recommended for families with a history of the condition. But research found that they had no effect, and the use of home monitors has largely stopped.

MOMMY G's comment: haven't tried and not applicable.

Make sure the room temperature is not too hot. The room temperature should be comfortable for a lightly-clothed adult. A baby should not be hot to the touch.

MOMMY G's comment: Done as always. He's not comfortable when its hot so I ensure proper ventilation.

Breastfeed your baby, if possible. Breastfeeding reduces some upper respiratory infections that may influence the development of SIDS. Breastfeeding also allows the mother to be in close watch over the baby for longer periods of time as compared to bottle feeding the babies

MOMMY G's comment: My baby is breastfed until 8 mos until he can't get enough milk from me.

Keep your baby in a smoke-free environment. Research has shown that babies born to mothers who smoked during pregnancy or after the baby is born have increased risk for SIDS.

MOMMY G's comment: I haven't smoked ever since. Both parents should commit quit smoking even before pregnancy to ensure having a healthy baby.

NEVER give honey to a child less than 1 year old. Honey in very young children may cause infant botulism, which may be associated with SIDS. Honey is a natural and unprocessed food that may contain bacteria that cause botulism.

MOMMY G's comment: I read this before but haven't tried. Lucky that I don't have honey during those times at home. Now that i have, I already knew about this.

Though the cause of SIDS remains unknown, it is still wise to follow these guidelines in the hopes of preventing the occurrence of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. As the saying goes, “ An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.”

    3.    “The Changing Concept of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome: Diagnostic Coding Shifts, Controversies Regarding the Sleeping Environment, and New Variables to Consider in Reducing Risk” aapolicy.aapublications.org

Parents and soon to be parents, this is very important for us to know.
Key message from this article, ensure that your baby can breathe well during his sleep because they cannot control their surroundings and of course don't have that force to push those materials blocking their faces.
Our role as parents and caregivers, ensure our baby's safety all the time.

**I have also read something about crying that may lead to SIDS but haven't remember the sire. Just beware because our babies especially at early stages of life cannot easily breathe while crying.

    Battle of the 3-in-1 Coffee

Different variants of coffee are very popular nowadays.
You can even find a lot of Coffee Shops everywhere.

On this article, I will not review coffee from these shops such as Starbucks, Seattle's Best, Gloria Jeans, etc.. Instead I will be reviewing instant coffee.
Why? because this is readily available especially at offices.
Employees need not to go out or order  and wait for the delivery. Especially when they need to immediately fight sleepiness. :)
Here are some of the instant 3-in-1 coffee that I reviewed:

Kopiko Brown - sweet, mild coffee flavor creamy

Great Taste White coffee - not too sweet but smooth and so creamy

Great Taste Original - creamy yet not so sweet, almost strong coffee taste

Great Taste Brown Coffee - smells like caramel, some coffee taste, creamy

Nescafe ice Mocha - hm mm creamy with mild taste of mocha

Necafe ice Cappuccino - creamy, can't feel the taste of coffee, for me its too mild

Nescafe Brown and Creamy Coffee -mild sweetness and creaminess.

Nescafe Sweet and Mild - too sweet yet not that smooth

Nescafe Original - not sweet and not so smooth and creamy.

SanMig Original Coffee - fair coffee and creamer taste, just add a little water coz this is 14g only

So far, these are all the instant coffee that I've tried and tasted.
For me, Great Taste is the best! (as of now :) )
Still gotta try other brands. I'll post another update on my coffee experience :)

    Other pictures later :)

Making the world a better place - I'm part of it :)

    Philippines, I work here :)
I'm proud to say that I am part of making a world a better place. Why? Because I'm working for a company whose vision is to change the way the world is powered. How? Through the solar cell technology. With this, utilization of fossil fuels, like oil, are reduced through the utilization of sun light.

Sun rays are converted into energy through the use of solar cells. Phtovoltaics is the process of converting sunlight directly into electricity using solar cells.
Research and development of photovoltaics received its first major boost from the space industry in the 1960s which required a power supply separate from "grid" power for satellite applications.
In the 1970s, the world focused its attention on the desirability of alternate energy sources, promoting the investigation of photovoltaics as a means of generating terrestrial power.

In the 1980s research into silicon solar cells paid off and solar cells began to increase their efficiency.
    Cabin in Swiss Alps

Today solar cells are recognized not only as a means for providing power but also a means of significantly diminishing the impact of environmental damage caused by conventional electricity generation in advanced industrial countries.
    How solar cells work:
A solar cell is an electronic device which directly converts sunlight into electricity. This process requires a material in which the absorption of light raises an electron to a higher energy state, and the movement of this higher energy electron from the solar cell into an external circuit.
The basic steps in the operation of a solar cell are:
    • Generation of light-generated carriers
    • Collection of the light-generated carries to generate a current
    • Generation of a large voltage across the solar cell; and
    • Dissipation of power in the load and in parasitic resistances
    Nellis Air Force, Las Vegas
These are some of the applications of our company's product.

I hope that in the future, these environmental initiatives will spread around the world.
So that our children can still enjoy and experience the beauty of our planet.
